How To Throw A Family Friendly New Years Eve Party

Whether you are throwing a New Years Eve party for a few friends, your family or church group there are a lot of fun and family friendly things that you can do.

I personal believe that celebrating the start of a new years is about letting go of the old and embracing the new. I think it is a great time for refection and growth, not getting drunk, but thats me.

If Like me you want to keep your holiday family friendly and fun, consider these 4 party Ideas. I think you will notice a theme as we go.

New Year, New Drink

To ring in the new year try a new taste. There a so many strange and wonderful flavored sodas and juices out there. You can find a soda that tastes like grass or one that tastes like cotton candy. Let your imagination go crazy, I personally will be trying apple, peach, and bacon flavored sodas. You can even make it a contest to see who will try the most flavors or drink the whole bottle of a particularly strange soda. Who knows you might find something you like, even if you don’t you can say you tried something new.

New Year, New Food

This is probably my favorite part of this new year new things party. Now this can be done a few different ways.

  1. Pick a country or place you have never been and find out what is a common dish there that you can make where you are, this can be fun and educational
  2. My favorite, go to a large store and take a look down the produce isle. Pick foods you have never tried or don’t even know what they are. You will need to do a bit of research to figure out what you have and how to eat it but it can be worth it. Let your guest guess about how to eat or fix the foods you have to offer.

Doing this can be a lot of fun and teach you something about yourself, last year I learned I do not like Papaya. Hopefully you will find something you do like, the point of this is the new experiences, plus it’s a good idea to have some normal food there for your party goers encase none of you grocery store finds please their pallets.

Make Something New / Play Something New

Most parties need or have an activity something everyone can do or the source of entertainment. For this portion You guessed it the emphases is something new.

Make Something New

If you are a crafty group or just want to encourage more creativity this activity is for you. First you need to gather some craft supplies. Glue, paper,pom-poms, pipe cleaners, play-do, basically anything you can make something with will work.

Next you need rules and a point system. Like you have only 10 min. to create your master piece, or that it has to fall into a category like animal a vegetable. Points can be awarded based on how many different craft items they used. You can also give points for originality or how closely it fits its category.

Play Something New.

If the idea above is not for you and yours, simply find a game no one has played before.

Get Rid Of The Old.

This part can be a serious or carefree as you want. As the new year approaches its good to look forward to the future and new things. But sometimes we need to let go of certain past things to, old habits or ideas that are not good for us.

I believe that God has a plan for every life but that we get stuck in what we want or what we think is best and hold onto things that keep us in place and not growing and moving forward in our lives. If you feel stuck it might be a good time to look at your life choices.

Encourage your guest to write something on a piece of paper they need to let go of. At midnight they can burn these pieces of paper to symbolically get rid of something in their lives that may be holding them back. Like I said this can be something funny or serious that is up to you.

I hope that every one has a wonderful and safe New Years Eve. I hope this article gives you ideas and inspiration to have a family friendly and fun time.
