Budget Friendly Fall Swag

Fall is here and if like me you are a little late to decorate or your just someone who likes to make your own decor. This is a quick, easy, and cheep Fall Swag to make.

What you need

The first thing you need to do is get some fall colored washi tape. I chose some rose gold tape but you can chose anything you want, to be honest this was some tape I bought on sale back in the spring.

You will also need some 6 in burlap ribbon, double sided tape or mounting tape, jute rope, and last but not least some fall colored paper. I chose some glitter paper in fall tones, again whatever you want or have will be fine, I recommend a few different colors.

What to Say

The next thing you need to do is decide what word or words you want to say, I went with a simple FALL, because it was short, easy, and said what I wanted.

After deciding what word or words you want count how many letters you will need (don’t forget to count a space if you use more than one word) next cut that many pieces of burlap out. I recommend cutting them about 7in long. After that you can cut a triangle out of the bottom about 2 inches in the center to give it the 2 points.

The next thing you need to do is cut some 1/2 in strips the width of the burlap. these will go at the top of each piece of burlap. Using a hole, put a hole at each end of the paper and then use the 2 sided or mounting tape to adhere the paper to the top of each piece of burlap.

Using the washi tape cut out small strips. You will use these strips to shape your letters. It will take some time and patience to get your letters smooth and straight.

After you have all the letters you need, you can have some fun and decorate your swag. I cut out a few leaves and used the same double sided tape to stick the down. You could add some small flowers, buttons, or anything you want to give your swag a personal touch.

Putting it all together

All that’s left is to string all the pieces up together. I like to make sure that the jute rope is on the back side of each piece so you don’t see it. Putting the rope thru the front to start will accomplish this. To make the rope look nicer and to make it easier to thread thru the holes I recommend putting tape around the ends of the rope. Its also good to leave a little space between each letter not a lot just enough to show some separation. After you have strung up all the parts When I suggest making a loop and securing it with the tape so that it is easy to hang your swag

I hope you enjoyed this little DIY, happy crafting.
